The power of positive thinking singing has helped Kenny Chesney reach a new career milestone: two simultaneous Top 10 singles.
Kennyâs new single, âGet Along,â reached No. 10 this week on the Billboard Country Airplay chart after only six weeks, while his duet with David Lee Murphy on âEverythingâs Gonna Be Alrightâ checked in at No. 7.
âI never take anything for granted when it comes radio,â says Kenny. âThey are the bridge between this music and the people who live inside these songs. For all the awards and number ones, Iâve never had two songs in the Top 10 at the same time, and itâs a pretty special rush. Having grown up listening to the radio, thereâs something about a song coming out of the speakers thatâs exciting.â
David Lee, whoâs probably best known for his 1995 No. 1 hit, âDust on the Bottle,â hadnât scored a hitâas a singerâsince 2004âs âLoco,â which reached No. 5. But over the last dozen or so years, the Illinois native has stayed busy as a songwriter, penning hits such as âBig Green Tractorâ (Jason Aldean), âAnywhere With Youâ (Jake Owen), âThe More I Drinkâ (Blake Shelton), ââTil Itâs Goneâ (Kenny Chesney) and more.
âYou watch the news, itâs rough,â says David Lee. âYou can get caught up in that, or step back and trust life. Sometimes, a deep breath changes everything.â
Kenny will release his 17th studio album, Songs for the Saints, on July 27. He kicked off his Trip Around the Sun Tour on April 21. It caps in August after making stops in Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Nashville and more.
