A generous donor has agreed to provide a $30,000 matching donation to fund our Pathway of Hope Initiative. This initiative is designed to assist families with children desiring to take action to break the cycle of financial crisis and intergenerational poverty.  We utilize a holistic strengths-based case management approach and ongoing follow up of families after services are completed.

In addition to one-time donations, donors can also round up their purchase at the register at our Family Thrift Store through the month of June 2023. Our store is located at 425 Mary Esther Cutoff, Fort Walton Beach and is open Monday through Saturday from 9am-5pm for additional information please contact Laura Beeman at 850-243-4531 x20. Top Hats & Tails: The ACATemy Awards – This fundraiser event for Save Our Cats and Kittens, the areas first feline-only animal shelter and adoption center is Saturday, June 10th.

6 pm happy hour at the cash car, dinner at 7pm. Buffet dinner, a live DJ, a 50/50 raffle, videos, a couple of fun raffles, and more! THe online silent auction kicks off June 7! Follow us on Facebook for more details, or check our website.

We Reign Sickle Cell Corporation will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on June 15, 2023 from 10:00 am to 3:00pm at the Crestview Community Center at 1446 Commerce Drive, Crestview, FL 32539. According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative. We are offering FREE sickle cell trait screenings for African American donors! As a thank you for your donation, we are offering a $10 gift card by email to a merchant of your choice, a $20 Amazon gift card, and a T-shirt (while supplies last)

June & July Events at Emerald Coast Science Center

All aboard the STEAM Machine! Join our newest summer program every Tuesday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in June and July. Enjoy different activities every week, from human biology, to engineering, robotics, and more. Explore creative ways to solve challenges with the whole family.

June 6-8: Ozobots Explore Force and Motion

This fun, engaging activity combines programming skills and science content! Kids can use their knowledge of force and motion to code their Ozobots and just how much weight it can push when you change its speed.

June 13-15: Da Vinci’s Bridge

Leonardo Da Vinci, an Italian inventor and artist, was tasked to design and engineer machines for war. One of the devices that he invented was this bridge that was easy to build because it did not require special skills, fasteners, or many men to build it. Can you build it?

June 20-22: Skin & Fingerprints

 No two people have the same fingerprint. Expand your fingerprint to explore what makes you unique by examining your print.  Loop, whorl, arch…which are you?

June 27-29: Bones & X-Rays 

If you’ve ever had a bad fall or broken a bone, you may already be familiar with X-rays. When a doctor needs to see something inside your body, they can use an X-ray machine to take pictures. Using our light tables, see if you can identify the part of the body you are looking at, and assemble the X-rays into a full human skeleton.

July 5 & 6: Nebula Spin Art

Nebulas are responsible for mixing up and spreading out elements in space. In this activity, you will make your own nebula using a little bit of paint and a lot of fun.

July 11-13: Cubelet Engineering

Cubelets are magnetic blocks that snap together to make an endless variety of robots. Come test your engineering skills and see what you can build.

July 18-20: Brain Hats

Our brains are responsible for everything we think, feel, say, and do. But how does it manage to do all of this? Explore the different lobes of your brain and make and take home a brain hat.

July 25-27: Spirographs

Interested in how gears can be used to create beautiful geometric artwork? Then you will love spirographs! Come see what you can make using our spirographs and take home a nice piece of art.

sciPad featuring SMALLab: June 1 – August 31

Stop by June 1 – August 31 and play on our room-sized iPad (sciPad) Tuesday-Thursday from 1 – 3 p.m.

sciPad featuring SMALLab Learning is an embodied learning environment where every learner is up, moving, and collaborating. You’ll work together to solve puzzles, compete in trivia games, learn about the world, play memory and matching games, and so much more. Watch as our classroom becomes the fraction, letter, molecule, paintbrush, or playing piece in hundreds of educational activities…think of it like playing in an interactive, room-sized iPad. Ages 2 to 102 will have fun on the sciPad…it’s unlike anything else!

sciPad is open from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for guests to drop in and play as they please on their visit. As such, private reservations are not available. However, you can RSVP for a selected date to help us determine the number of guests to expect on your selected day. 

sciPad is subject to availability due to summer field trip bookings. Please call to confirm availability or watch this space for any potential closure dates.
